LookLabs Staff Pick - The Handmaid's Tale
Jul 24, 2017
The Handmaid's Tale is a 1985 dystopian novel by acclaimed Canadian author Margaret Atwood which has now been turned into an original Hulu miniseries. Set in a dystopian future, a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship. The story is very dark but the look of the series is beautifully colored and photographed. The dark tones are filled with blue and green accents whereas the highlights are consistently warm. Most importantly, the skin tones look completely natural and highly filmic.
