The Golden Sun of Miami Shines Brightly
Mar 24, 2021
"I recently had a chance to watch the latest movie in the Bad Boys series, Bad Boys for Life, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and once again directed by Michael Bay" states LookLabs colorist Jeff August. Although Bays movies may not be the deepest from a story standpoint it's full of fun, action, and color. In this edition, Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett must face off against a mother-and-son pair of drug lords who wreak vengeful havoc on their city.
"The colors of this movie pop especially in HDR. The primary look of the movie is gold and the palette definitely makes you feel like you are somewhere hot - like Miami". The look is once again very Michael Bay and is easily achieved when you use SpeedLooks Gold. There are a multiple variants that will get you the look you want instantly, try Gold Heat or Gold Orange. Remember, when using LUTs you can control their strength by adjusting transparency, allowing you to easily dial in the look you are going for. The split screen example below best illustrates this Miami look.
